- Flora:
The vegetation and flora is characterized by being used to protect soil and fodder shrubs as well as giving the locust, Chan and tamarugo. Xerophitic all this because, is adapted to low water.
Some of the mammals to be found are: culpeo and screams, two species of fox, chinchilla rodents as and Cururú
Among the birds is the sparrows, tench and kestrel.
Hydrography:
This area includes the regions of Atacama and Coquimbo and part of the Valparaíso region. In this area the rivers have their headwaters in the High Andes and have a constant runoff in an east-west, the rivers of this region receive inputs of water from winter rains and spring thaws.

River Elqui (Area 9645 Km2 - 170 km long)
